शिवस्याथाग्रतो भूत्वा ऊचुः सर्वे त्वरान्विताः । किं कृतं हि त्वया शंभो विरक्तेन महात्मना । परदारापहर्त्तासि त्वमृषीणां न संशयः
śivasyāthāgrato bhūtvā ūcuḥ sarve tvarānvitāḥ | kiṃ kṛtaṃ hi tvayā śaṃbho viraktena mahātmanā | paradārāpaharttāsi tvamṛṣīṇāṃ na saṃśayaḥ
ശിവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ നിന്നുകൊണ്ട് അവർ എല്ലാവരും അതിവേഗം പറഞ്ഞു—“ഹേ ശംഭോ! വൈരാഗ്യവാനായ മഹാത്മാവായിട്ടും നീ ഇതെന്തു ചെയ്തു? നീ ഋഷിമാരുടെ പരസ്ത്രീകളെ അപഹരിക്കുന്നവൻ—സംശയമില്ല!”
