विजयोवाच । तपसा महता चैव शिवं प्राप्तासि शोभने । मृषशा द्यूतं कृतं तेन शंकरेण तपस्विना
vijayovāca | tapasā mahatā caiva śivaṃ prāptāsi śobhane | mṛṣaśā dyūtaṃ kṛtaṃ tena śaṃkareṇa tapasvinā
വിജയ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ ശോഭനേ! മഹത്തായ തപസ്സാൽ നീ ശിവനെ പ്രാപിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ ആ തപസ്വിയായ ശങ്കരൻ നിന്നോടു വഞ്ചനയുടെ ദ്യൂതം കളിച്ചതുപോലെ തോന്നുന്നു.
