निशम्य वाक्यं गिरिजा सती तदा ह्युवाच वाक्यं च विहस्य तं प्रति । जानासि सर्वं च बटोऽद्य पश्य मे द्यूतं महेशेन करोमि तेऽग्रतः
niśamya vākyaṃ girijā satī tadā hyuvāca vākyaṃ ca vihasya taṃ prati | jānāsi sarvaṃ ca baṭo'dya paśya me dyūtaṃ maheśena karomi te'grataḥ
അവന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ കേട്ട് ഗിരിജാ സതി ചിരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് പറഞ്ഞു—“ഓ ബാലകാ, നീ എല്ലാം അറിയുന്നവൻ. ഇന്ന് നോക്കുക; നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ തന്നെ ഞാൻ മഹേശനോടൊപ്പം ദ്യൂതക്രീഡ ചെയ്യും.”
