āsurīṃ yonimāsādya vṛtronāmnā'bhavattadā | tapasā parameṇaiva tvaṣṭrā saṃyojitaḥ kramāt
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) to the sages (deduced from Māheśvarakhaṇḍa narrative style)
Tirtha: Kedāranātha (contextual)
Type: kshetra
Scene: A dark, powerful asuric birth scene: the reborn being named Vṛtra emerges; nearby, the divine artisan Tvaṣṭṛ performs a formative rite, shaping the body through tapas and mantra-like craft.
Tapas is portrayed as a potent force that can shape destiny and even bring formidable beings into manifestation—hence it must be guided by dharma.
The broader setting is Kedārakhaṇḍa (Kedāra region), though this verse itself focuses on the Vṛtra backstory rather than a specific tirtha.
No direct ritual is prescribed here; the verse sets narrative groundwork through the theme of austerity (tapas).
