sūta uvāca | dākṣāyaṇī purā dattā śaṃkarāya mahātmane | vacanādbrahmaṇo viprā dakṣeṇa parameṣṭhinaḥ
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa)
Listener: Viprāḥ / Ṛṣayaḥ
Scene: A solemn marriage-giving scene: Dakṣa, as Prajāpati, offers Dākṣāyaṇī (Satī) to Śaṅkara; Brahmā’s command presides as a cosmic sanction; Śiva appears austere, great-souled, with calm acceptance.
Even cosmic lineages and marriages unfold under divine ordinance, setting the stage for dharma lessons about pride and devotion.
The verse is narrative background within Kedārakhaṇḍa; no single tīrtha is directly praised in this line.
No ritual is prescribed; it recounts the origin of the Dakṣa–Śiva conflict narrative.
