तच्छ्रुत्वा विस्मयाविष्ट इंद्रद्युम्नोऽपि दुःखितः । पप्रचछ जीविते हेतुमतिमात्रे विहंगमम्
tacchrutvā vismayāviṣṭa iṃdradyumno'pi duḥkhitaḥ | papracacha jīvite hetumatimātre vihaṃgamam
ഇതു കേട്ട് ഇന്ദ്രദ്യുമ്നൻ അത്ഭുതത്തിൽ മുങ്ങി ദുഃഖിതനായി. അത്യന്തം ജ്ഞാനമുള്ള ആ പക്ഷിയോടു തന്റെ ദീർഘായുസ്സിന്റെ കാരണമെന്തെന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
