पपात रक्तं तद्भस्म यत्र येषां च मर्म च । केवलं चैव पांडूनां कृपद्रोण्योश्च नास्पृशत
papāta raktaṃ tadbhasma yatra yeṣāṃ ca marma ca | kevalaṃ caiva pāṃḍūnāṃ kṛpadroṇyośca nāspṛśata
ആരുടെയൊക്കെ മർമ്മസ്ഥാനം എവിടെയുണ്ടായിരുന്നുവോ അവിടെയെല്ലാം രക്തവർണ്ണമായ ആ ഭസ്മം വീണു. എന്നാൽ പാണ്ഡവരെ അത് ഒട്ടും സ്പർശിച്ചില്ല; കൃപനെയും ദ്രോണനെയും പോലും അല്ല.
