vayaṃ sadātra cāyāmo devaśarmaṃstavāṃtike | sthāne'smākaṃ kadācittvaṃ na cāyāsi kutaḥ sutaḥ
Pitṛs (ancestors)
Tirtha: Gaṅgā-sāgara-saṅgama (as contact-point)
Type: sangam
Listener: Devaśarmā
Scene: Three or more radiant ancestors address Devaśarmā with affectionate questioning—‘we come to you always; why do you not come to our abode?’ The devotee listens with folded hands, surprised yet calm.
The bond between descendants and ancestors is reciprocal; rites draw Pitṛs near, and spiritual maturity invites deeper knowledge of their realm.
No new tīrtha; the focus is the Pitṛs’ own ‘sthāna’ (abode) and their nearness due to rites.
Implicitly, continued śrāddha/tarpaṇa that enables the Pitṛs to ‘come’ and communicate.
