ब्रह्माणमाह दैत्यस्तु निर्मृत्युत्वमहं वृणे । ब्रह्मोवाच । न कश्चिच्च विना मृत्युं जंतुरासुर विद्यते
brahmāṇamāha daityastu nirmṛtyutvamahaṃ vṛṇe | brahmovāca | na kaścicca vinā mṛtyuṃ jaṃturāsura vidyate
ദൈത്യൻ ബ്രഹ്മാവിനോട് പറഞ്ഞു—“ഞാൻ അമൃത്യത്വം, അഥവാ മരണമില്ലായ്മ, വരമായി വേണം.” ബ്രഹ്മാവ് പറഞ്ഞു—“ഹേ അസുരാ, മരണത്തില്ലാതെ ഒരു ജീവിയും ഇല്ല.”
