नानाश्चर्यगुणाधारः प्रतीहारो मतोंऽबिके । देव्युवाच । ईदृशस्य सुतस्यापि ममोऽकंठा पुरांतक
nānāścaryaguṇādhāraḥ pratīhāro matoṃ'bike | devyuvāca | īdṛśasya sutasyāpi mamo'kaṃṭhā purāṃtaka
ഹേ അംബികേ, അവൻ നാനാവിധ അത്ഭുതഗുണങ്ങളുടെ അധാരമാണ്; പ്രതിഹാരൻ (ദ്വാരപാലകൻ) എന്നു കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു. ദേവി അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു—ഹേ പുരാന്തകാ, ഇത്തരമൊരു പുത്രനേക്കുറിച്ചും എന്റെ ആഗ്രഹം നിയന്ത്രണമില്ലാത്തതാണ്.
