ततः सर्वानपृच्छत्स कुलं कोऽपि न वेद तत् । ततो विष्णुरिदं प्राह पृछ्यंतेऽन्ये किमर्थतः
tataḥ sarvānapṛcchatsa kulaṃ ko'pi na veda tat | tato viṣṇuridaṃ prāha pṛchyaṃte'nye kimarthataḥ
അപ്പോൾ അവൻ എല്ലാവരോടും (വരന്റെ) കുലം എന്തെന്ന് ചോദിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ ആരും അറിയില്ലായിരുന്നു. തുടർന്ന് വിഷ്ണു പറഞ്ഞു: “മറ്റുള്ളവരെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യുന്നതെന്തിന്, അതിന്റെ പ്രയോജനം എന്ത്?”
