नारद उवाच । एवं विप्रकृता देवा महेंद्रसहितास्तदा । ययुः स्वायंभुवं दाम मर्करूपमुपाश्रिताः
nārada uvāca | evaṃ viprakṛtā devā maheṃdrasahitāstadā | yayuḥ svāyaṃbhuvaṃ dāma markarūpamupāśritāḥ
നാരദൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇങ്ങനെ പീഡിതരായി താഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ട ദേവന്മാർ, മഹേന്ദ്രനോടുകൂടെ, അപ്പോൾ സ്വയംഭൂ പ്രഭുവിന്റെ ധാമത്തിലേക്ക് പോയി; മർക്കടരൂപം ആശ്രയിച്ച് (വേഷം മാറി)।
