सरिद्वरा निशम्येति रेवा प्राह महेश्वरम् । किं वरेणेह देवेश भृशं तुच्छेन धूर्जटे
saridvarā niśamyeti revā prāha maheśvaram | kiṃ vareṇeha deveśa bhṛśaṃ tucchena dhūrjaṭe
ഇതു കേട്ട് നദികളിൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠയായ രേവ മഹേശ്വരനോടു പറഞ്ഞു— “ഹേ ദേവേശ, ഹേ ധൂർജടേ! ഇവിടെ ഇത്തരമൊരു അത്യന്തം തുച്ഛവരം എന്തിനു?”
