sarvaratnamayaṃ liṃgaṃ jātaṃ tatsukṛtātmanaḥ | śakracāpasamacchāyaṃ sarvaratnadyutiprabham
Narrator (contextual; Kāśī Khaṇḍa discourse tradition)
Tirtha: Śaileśvara (ratna-liṅga episode) within Kāśīkṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śaunaka and sages / ‘muni’ addressed in passage context
Scene: A newly manifested liṅga composed of many gems, its surface refracting multicolored light like Indra’s rainbow; devotees and sages gaze in wonder as the kṣetra glows.
Great merit (puṇya) culminates in direct encounter with Śiva’s luminous presence, symbolized by the jewel-made Liṅga.
Śaileśvara in Kāśī (Varanasi), presented as a radiant Liṅga-manifestation site.
No explicit ritual is stated here; the verse highlights the fruit of accumulated merit and the sanctity of darśana.
