Skanda
Tirtha: Kāśī
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śaunaka and sages
Scene: Two-panel didactic scene: left shows a calm yogin practicing measured breathing with a steady flame and balanced posture; right shows a strained practitioner with disturbed aura and scattered herbs/medical tools, indicating ailments from wrong practice.
Discipline must be guided and proportionate; right practice heals and supports dharma, wrong practice harms.
Kāśī is the textual setting; the verse is a practical caution within the Kāśī Khaṇḍa’s teaching.
The prescription is to perform prāṇāyāma in a ‘yukta’ (regulated, correct) manner and avoid unregulated overexertion.
