विप्राणां ज्ञानतो ज्यैष्ठ्यं बाहुजानां तु वीर्यतः । वैश्यानां धान्यधनतः पज्जातानां तु जन्मतः
viprāṇāṃ jñānato jyaiṣṭhyaṃ bāhujānāṃ tu vīryataḥ | vaiśyānāṃ dhānyadhanataḥ pajjātānāṃ tu janmataḥ
ബ്രാഹ്മണന്മാരിൽ ജ്യേഷ്ഠത ജ്ഞാനത്താൽ, ക്ഷത്രിയന്മാരിൽ വീര്യത്താൽ, വൈശ്യന്മാരിൽ ധാന്യധനത്താൽ, താഴ്ന്നജന്മക്കാരിൽ വെറും ജന്മത്താൽ മാത്രമെന്നു പറയപ്പെടുന്നു.
