Skanda (deduced: Kāśīkhaṇḍa commonly Skanda instructing Agastya)
Tirtha: Gaṅgā (Svargataraṅgiṇī/Jāhnavī)
Type: river
Scene: A sage narrates the incomparable glory of Gaṅgā; other rivers/tīrthas appear as faint, distant streams while Gaṅgā shines like a celestial torrent descending from heaven.
Among all tīrthas, Gaṅgā is proclaimed supremely potent; her greatness surpasses others beyond ordinary measure.
Gaṅgā—the heavenly river—especially as praised within the Kāśī-khaṇḍa context.
No specific rite is prescribed here; the verse establishes Gaṅgā’s unmatched mahātmya as the basis for later practice.
