viṃdhya uvāca | dhigjīvitaṃśāstrakalojjhitasya dhigjīvitaṃ codyamavarjitasya | dhigjīvitaṃ jñātiparājitasya dhigjīvitaṃ vyatharmanorathasya
വിംധ്യൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ശാസ്ത്രവിദ്യയും കലകളും വിട്ടുമാറിയവന്റെ ജീവിതം നിന്ദ്യമാണ്; ഉന്നത സംരംഭം ഇല്ലാത്തവന്റെ ജീവിതം നിന്ദ്യമാണ്. സ്വന്തം ജ്ഞാതികളാൽ പരാജിതനായവന്റെ ജീവിതം നിന്ദ്യമാണ്; വ്യർത്ഥമായി മുറിവേറ്റ മനോരഥങ്ങളുള്ളവന്റെ ജീവിതം നിന്ദ്യമാണ്.
