അവൻ ദേവനഗരം ഉപരോധിച്ചു, ദേവന്മാരെയും പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു. അന്നേരം സ്വർഗത്തിൽ സുര-രാക്ഷസന്മാരുടെ മഹാസമരം നടന്നു കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
