ततोऽद्य रात्रौ पार्थानां समेत्य पटमण्डपम् । सुखसुप्तान्हनिष्यामः शस्त्रैर्नानाविधैर्वयम् । कृपः प्रोवाच तत्रैन मिति श्रुत्वा द्विजोत्तमाः
tato'dya rātrau pārthānāṃ sametya paṭamaṇḍapam | sukhasuptānhaniṣyāmaḥ śastrairnānāvidhairvayam | kṛpaḥ provāca tatraina miti śrutvā dvijottamāḥ
"അതുകൊണ്ട് ഇന്ന് രാത്രി പാണ്ഡവരുടെ കൂടാരത്തിൽ ചെന്ന്, സുഖമായി ഉറങ്ങുന്ന അവരെ നാം പലവിധ ആയുധങ്ങളാൽ വധിക്കും." ഇതുകേട്ട് ബ്രാഹ്മണശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ കൃപാചാര്യർ അവിടെവെച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
