vidyate brahmahatyānāmayutāyutanāśanam | darśanaṃ brahmakuṃḍasya sarvapāpaughanāśanam
Narratorial voice (contextually Sūta in Adhyāya 14)
Tirtha: Brahma-kuṇḍa
Type: kund
Listener: Brāhmaṇas / tīrtha-inquirers (implied by surrounding address)
Scene: A pilgrim stands at the edge of Brahma-kuṇḍa with folded hands; dark, smoky ‘pāpa’ forms dissolve into light above the water; the kuṇḍa reflects a radiant sky, suggesting instantaneous purification through sight.
Purāṇic tīrthas are depicted as radically purifying—darśana itself can dissolve even grave karmic burdens.
Brahma-kuṇḍa in the Setu-khaṇḍa.
Darśana (reverent viewing) of Brahma-kuṇḍa is itself presented as a powerful purificatory act.
