यम उवाच । एवमस्त्विति तां प्राह चान्यं वरय सत्वरम् । ददामि वरमुत्कृष्टं गानेन तोषितोस्म्यहम्
yama uvāca | evamastviti tāṃ prāha cānyaṃ varaya satvaram | dadāmi varamutkṛṣṭaṃ gānena toṣitosmyaham
യമൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“എവമസ്തു.” പിന്നെ അവളോട്—“വേഗം മറ്റൊരു വരം തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുക. നിന്റെ ഗാനത്തിൽ ഞാൻ പ്രസന്നനായി; ഉത്തമമായ വരം ഞാൻ നൽകുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
