भूत उवाच । गोवत्समिति विख्यातं नराणां पुण्यदं परम् । अनेकजन्मपापघ्नं मार्कंडेयेन भाषितम्
bhūta uvāca | govatsamiti vikhyātaṃ narāṇāṃ puṇyadaṃ param | anekajanmapāpaghnaṃ mārkaṃḍeyena bhāṣitam
ഭൂതൻ പറഞ്ഞു— ‘ഗോവത്സ’ എന്നു പ്രസിദ്ധമായത് മനുഷ്യർക്കു പരമ പുണ്യപ്രദം; അനേകം ജന്മങ്ങളിലെ പാപനാശകം—മാർക്കണ്ഡേയൻ പ്രസ്താവിച്ചതുപോലെ।
