śivavāṇyuvāca | he lokā mā bhayaṃ vo'stu upāyaḥ śrūyatāmayam | kaściccaṃḍālamānīya matpuraḥ sthāpyatāṃ dhuvam
Śivavāṇī (aśarīriṇī vāk from the liṅga)
Tirtha: Liṅga-sthāna in Dharmāraṇya (implied)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Devas / loka-pratinidhi figures
Scene: From the liṅga, an unseen Śiva-voice radiates: ‘Do not fear’; devas and attendants look startled as the command to bring a caṇḍāla is pronounced, challenging their assumptions.
Divine guidance removes fear when one follows the prescribed dharmic remedy, even if it challenges social assumptions.
Dharmāraṇya’s liṅga-presence is central; the narrative frames the site as governed by Śiva’s immediate command.
A specific act is prescribed: to bring and place a caṇḍāla before the deity/liṅga as part of resolving the crisis.
