Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Rudra
Jyotirlinga: Viśvanātha
Sthala Purana: Kāśī/Viśvanātha is celebrated as the supreme kṣetra for japa and dhyāna where Śiva grants taraka-upadeśa; the verse’s emphasis on Rudra-japa and samādhi resonates with that salvific kṣetra-idea.
Significance: Japa and dhyāna leading to one-pointedness; seeking Śiva’s grace for liberation and fearlessness.
Type: rudram
It presents mantra-japa of Rudra as the doorway to paramadhyāna—where the mind becomes one-pointed and settles into samādhi, aligning the soul (paśu) toward Shiva (Pati) for liberation.
Rudra-japa is a Saguna practice (devotional focus on Shiva with name and mantra) that matures into inward absorption; such worship commonly begins with external supports (like Linga-pūjā) and culminates in steady inner dhyāna.
Regular Rudra-mantra japa followed by silent meditation (dhyāna), preferably in a pure place like a sacred riverbank, cultivating ekāgratā (one-pointedness) and deep composure (samāhita).
