This verse lists prominent names within the battle narrative, emphasizing the vast, ordered host moving under divine will—reminding the devotee that even fierce forces operate within Shiva’s cosmic governance (Pati), while beings (paśu) remain bound by action (pāśa) until they turn to devotion and grace.
Though it is a battlefield catalogue, it supports Saguna Shiva worship by portraying the Lord’s manifest power organizing and subduing chaotic forces; devotees worship the Liṅga as the steady axis of reality amid such turmoil, seeking protection and inner steadiness.
A practical takeaway is japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) for fearlessness and steadiness, paired with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) remembrance of impermanence—so the mind does not ‘tremble’ like Kampana/Atikampana but rests in Shiva.
