दुन्दुभिनिर्ह्रादनिर्णयः / Dundubhinirhrāda’s Stratagem: Targeting the Brāhmaṇas
तं भक्तं ध्यानमापन्नं दृढचित्तं शिवेक्षणे । कृतास्त्रमन्त्रविन्यासं तं क्रांतुमशकन्न सः
taṃ bhaktaṃ dhyānamāpannaṃ dṛḍhacittaṃ śivekṣaṇe | kṛtāstramantravinyāsaṃ taṃ krāṃtumaśakanna saḥ
എന്നാൽ ആ ദൈത്യന് ആ ഭക്തനെ കീഴടക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല—ധ്യാനത്തിൽ ലീനനായി, മനസ്സിൽ ദൃഢനായി, ശിവനിലേക്കു ദൃഷ്ടി നിശ്ചലമാക്കി, അസ്ത്രമന്ത്രങ്ങളുടെ വിന്യാസം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയവനായിരുന്നു അവൻ।

Sthala Purana: Not tied to a Jyotirliṅga; the verse emphasizes bhakta-rakṣā through Śiva-oriented dhyāna and mantra-śakti (astra-mantra), implying Śiva’s anugraha operating through disciplined practice.
Significance: Teaches that steadfast Śiva-dhyāna coupled with mantra-protection renders the devotee ‘unassailable’ by hostile forces—an inner pilgrimage of steadiness.
Role: liberating
It teaches that one-pointed bhakti and dhyāna on Śiva make the devotee inwardly unshakable; when consciousness rests in Pati (Śiva), hostile forces cannot easily “overcome” the sādhaka.
The verse highlights śiva-īkṣaṇa—fixing awareness on Śiva’s form and presence. In practice, this aligns with saguna upāsanā such as steady gazing and meditation on the Śiva-liṅga, where devotion stabilizes the mind and becomes a spiritual shield.
It points to disciplined dhyāna with mantra-śakti: mantra-japa with proper mental “placement” (vinyāsa/nyāsa-like focus), along with steady contemplation of Śiva—commonly supported in Shaiva practice by japa of the Pañcākṣarī and meditation before the liṅga.
