It highlights that power in the world—even in heroic conflict—ultimately operates under Śiva’s sanction (ājñā). From a Śaiva perspective, this underscores Śiva as Pati (the Supreme Lord) whose grace empowers and whose will sets the limits of all strength.
Bāṇa’s strength is explicitly traced to Śiva’s command, reflecting Saguna Śiva as the personal Lord who bestows boons and governs outcomes. Linga-worship trains the devotee to recognize this Lordship behind all events, replacing egoic pride with surrender.
A practical takeaway is to cultivate śaraṇāgati (surrender) through japa of the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—and to perform simple Śiva-pūjā (with bhasma/tripuṇḍra or rudrākṣa if one follows that vrata), praying that one’s strength be aligned with Śiva’s will rather than anger.
