The Manifestation/Transmission of the Mṛtyuñjaya Vidyā
निर्मलीकृत्य तच्चेतो रत्नं दत्त्वा पिनाकिने । प्रययौ कणधूमौघं सहस्रं शरदां कविः
nirmalīkṛtya tacceto ratnaṃ dattvā pinākine | prayayau kaṇadhūmaughaṃ sahasraṃ śaradāṃ kaviḥ
ചിത്തം നിർമ്മലമാക്കി ആ കവി പിനാകി (ശിവൻ)ക്ക് ഒരു രത്നം അർപ്പിച്ചു. തുടർന്ന് അവൻ സൂക്ഷ്മ പുകകണങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടമായി ലയിച്ച് സഹസ്ര ശരദുകൾ (ആയിരം വർഷം) അങ്ങനെ തന്നെയിരുന്നു.

It emphasizes citta-śuddhi (purification of the mind) as the foundation of Śiva-bhakti: an offering becomes spiritually potent when made with a cleansed, surrendered inner state, aligning the soul (paśu) toward Pati (Śiva).
By naming Śiva as Pinākin, the verse highlights Saguna worship—approaching the Lord through a revered form and attribute—where offerings (like a gem) symbolize devotion and self-giving, which are central to Linga-centered pūjā as well.
The implied practice is inner purification before pūjā—through japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” dhyāna, and sattvic restraint—followed by a sincere offering (dāna/naivedya) made with devotion rather than display.
