Chapter on the Ordinance of Initiation
sanatkumāra uvāca | tadīyaṃ sa vacaḥ śrutvā mahadarthasugarbhitam | vismito hṛdi daityeśo jagau tatra vimohitaḥ
Sanatkumara
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It highlights how truth-bearing speech can pierce ego and power, producing inner astonishment and moha; in Shaiva thought, such disruption can become the first crack through which grace and right understanding may enter.
Though the Linga is not named here, the verse sets the psychological ground for devotion: when worldly authority is shaken by higher meaning, the mind becomes ready to turn from asuric pride toward Saguna Shiva’s guidance and the stabilizing refuge of worship.
A practical takeaway is śravaṇa-manana (listening and reflecting on Shiva-kathā) to dissolve delusion; one may support this with steady japa of the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to regain clarity and inner composure.
