Sanatkumara (narrating to Pārāśarya/Vyāsa, as indicated by the dialogue colophon)
Sthala Purana: This is an adhyāya-colophon (iti…); it summarizes the chapter’s contents: Tripura-vadha aftermath, deva-stuti, Maya-stuti, Muṇḍinī installation, and devas returning to their abodes.
Significance: Colophons function as textual ‘tīrtha-māhātmya markers’ for reciters: they signal completion (pāraṇa) and help liturgical reading cycles; the chapter’s themes emphasize Śiva’s victory, praise, and restoration of cosmic order.
This is a chapter-colophon that frames the teaching: after Shiva destroys Tripura, the devas respond with stuti (devotional praise). In Shaiva Siddhanta terms, it highlights Pati (Shiva) as the supreme liberator and protector, and bhakti expressed through praise as the proper response to divine grace.
Though not naming the Liṅga directly, the colophon centers on Saguna Shiva’s manifest act—Tripura-vadha—followed by hymns. Such narratives support worship of Shiva in a personal, approachable form, where devotees remember His līlā and offer stuti as a mode of upāsanā.
The implied takeaway is stotra-pāṭha and nāma-smaraṇa: reciting Shiva’s praises after contemplating His protective acts. Practically, one may pair this with Panchākṣarī japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and simple worship (abhisheka/archana) as an expression of gratitude and surrender.
