FAQs

The verse highlights an inescapable cosmic reaction—an awe-filled, fear-inducing omen—signaling that a major divine turning-point is unfolding under Śiva’s governance of the worlds; such fear (bhaya) can redirect beings from ego and complacency toward reverence and dharma.

Though the Liṅga is not named here, the narrative mood is characteristic of Saguna Śiva’s līlā in the Purāṇa: when the Lord’s will moves history, the cosmos itself ‘announces’ it through signs, prompting devotees to take refuge in Śiva through worship, mantra, and remembrance.

When confronted with fear or omens, the Shaiva response is steadiness in japa and devotion—mentally repeating the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and, where appropriate, performing simple Śiva-pūjā with calm breath and focused remembrance rather than panic.
