FAQs

It declares Śiva as Parameśvara by pointing to a hallmark of true divinity in Shaiva devotion: even the gods and sages bow in humility, honoring the sacred remnant from His feet. The verse teaches surrender (śaraṇāgati) and the sanctity of contact with what is offered to Śiva.

In Saguna worship—especially Linga-pūjā—offerings become sanctified as nirmālya/prasāda. Reverently receiving and honoring such remnants expresses devotion and acknowledges Śiva’s immanence: the Supreme is present and graciously accessible through ritual worship.

Treat Śiva’s nirmālya as sacred: receive prasāda with reverence (symbolically “on the head”), maintain purity and humility, and mentally contemplate Śiva’s feet as the refuge. This supports bhakti and steady remembrance during japa (e.g., of the Pañcākṣarī, if practiced in the wider context).
