Viṣṇu’s Hymn and the Petition for Śiva–Satī’s Protection
brahmovāca | iti śrutvā vaco viṣṇorvihasya parameśvaraḥ | evamastviti sarvajñaḥ provāca madhusūdanam
Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Mantra: evam astu
It shows Śiva as Parameśvara and Sarvajña—fully sovereign and all-knowing—yet responding with gracious ease; the devotee learns surrender to the Lord’s will, trusting His compassionate governance (Pati) over all events.
Śiva’s “So be it” reflects Saguna Shiva’s accessible, personal grace—He hears, smiles, and grants; in Linga-worship this is experienced as the Lord’s immediate anugraha (favor) upon sincere prayer and right intention.
A practical takeaway is bhakti with acceptance: offer japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and conclude with inner consent—“evam astu”—resting the mind in Śiva’s omniscient guidance.
