Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Alludes to Satī’s manifestation as Dakṣa’s daughter and her honoring of Śaṅkara as līlā—an origin-thread that later culminates in the Dakṣa-yajña rupture and Satī’s self-immolation, prompting Śiva’s cosmic response.
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: creative
Offering: pushpa
The verse frames Satī’s incarnation as a purposeful divine līlā: the soul’s highest fulfillment is to honour Śiva (Pati), the supreme Lord, through reverence and devotion—an orientation central to Shaiva Siddhānta.
By emphasizing “honouring Śaṅkara,” the verse supports saguna-upāsanā—devotional worship of Śiva in a personal form, which in practice includes Linga worship as the accessible, compassionate embodiment of the transcendent Lord.
The practical takeaway is bhakti expressed as respectful worship (sabhājana): perform Śiva-pūjā with mantra-japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and a reverent attitude, seeing the act as sacred līlā offered to Śiva.
