Viṣṇu’s Manifestation and Brahmā’s Hymn
putro bhūtvā mama hare'nindanmāṃ ca samakṣataḥ | iti duḥkhaṃ mahanme hi taduktaṃ tava sannidhau
Satī (addressing Hari/Vishnu, in the narrative recounted by Sūta to the sages)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: nurturing
The verse highlights the pain caused by harsh speech and public reproach, reminding devotees that dharmic conduct includes restraint, humility, and honoring sacred relationships—qualities that support bhakti and inner purification on the path to Shiva.
Though the verse is a personal lament addressed to Hari, its devotional undertone fits Saguna worship: emotions like sorrow and surrender are offered to the Divine, and the devotee learns to refine conduct and intention—key to approaching Shiva with reverence in Linga-upasana.
A practical takeaway is vāṅ-niyama (discipline of speech) alongside japa of the Panchākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—as a daily practice to purify reactions, reduce blame, and stabilize devotion.
