Brahmā’s Enchantment by Desire during the Wedding Rites
vāsāṃsi sāgarāssapta diśaścaiva mahābhujāḥ | dyaurmūrddhā te vibhornābhiḥ khaṃ vāyurnāsikā tataḥ
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the Purāṇic account to the sages, presenting the hymn/description of Śiva’s cosmic body)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Type: stotra
It teaches Śiva’s immanence: the entire cosmos is His manifested (saguṇa) body, guiding the devotee to see all existence as pervaded by Pati (Śiva), which supports devotion, humility, and liberation-oriented vision.
The Liṅga is the concentrated symbol of the same all-pervading reality described here. Worship of the Liṅga trains the mind to recognize that the directions, oceans, sky, and wind are not separate from Śiva’s presence, making saguṇa worship a doorway to the realization of His transcendence.
A simple dhyāna: during japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), contemplate the universe as Śiva’s form—directions as His arms, sky as His navel—then offer all perceptions as mental pūjā (mānasa-pūjā).
