प्रकृतितत्त्व-विचारः / Inquiry into Prakṛti (Nature/Śakti) and Śiva’s Transcendence
पार्वत्यपि विगर्वाभून्मुने तस्य निदेशतः । ततस्तपो महत्कृत्वा शिवं प्राप पतिं सती
pārvatyapi vigarvābhūnmune tasya nideśataḥ | tatastapo mahatkṛtvā śivaṃ prāpa patiṃ satī
Sūta Gosvāmī
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga account; it narrates Pārvatī’s humility and tapas culminating in union with Umāpati—an archetype for sādhana leading to Śiva’s grace.
Significance: Models the Śaiva Siddhānta path: humility (vinaya), tapas, and devotion culminating in Śiva’s anugraha; inspires vrata/japa for marital harmony and spiritual steadfastness.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
Cosmic Event: Tapas leading to divine marriage—cosmic preparation for the devas’ relief through the forthcoming birth-purpose (Skanda/Kumāra cycle).
The verse highlights that ego (garva) must be dissolved through right instruction and disciplined tapas; when humility and devotion mature, the soul becomes fit to receive Pati—Śiva—by grace.
Pārvatī’s attainment of Śiva after tapas mirrors the devotee’s approach to Saguna Śiva in Liṅga-worship: purification of pride, steady practice, and surrender culminate in the Lord’s manifest acceptance and blessing.
The takeaway is sustained tapas with humility—practically expressed as daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), simple vrata/fasting (as on Mahāśivarātri), and meditative worship of Śiva with a purified, ego-free mind.
