FAQs

It highlights that true, “supreme” joy (parama ānanda) arises suddenly by divine auspiciousness—classically understood in Shaiva thought as Shiva’s grace (anugraha) uplifting even the devas into a state of celebratory clarity and harmony.

In the Shiva Purana’s devotional framework, such collective rejoicing of the devas typically follows the manifestation of Shiva’s auspicious presence or the success of a Shiva-centered purpose; this aligns with Saguna Shiva worship where the Linga is revered as the accessible sign of Shiva’s beneficent power that generates peace and joy in the worlds.

The takeaway is to cultivate Shiva-oriented devotion that yields inner “utsava” (uplift): daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with a calm mind, and simple Shiva-pūjā (offering water to the Linga) as a practice to invite that higher ananda.
