देव्याः क्रोधः शक्तिनिर्माणं च
Devī’s Wrath and the Manifestation of the Śaktis
इत्येवं दुःखिता सा च शक्तीश्शतसहस्रशः । निर्ममे तत्क्षणं क्रुद्धा सर्वलोकमहेश्वरी
ityevaṃ duḥkhitā sā ca śaktīśśatasahasraśaḥ | nirmame tatkṣaṇaṃ kruddhā sarvalokamaheśvarī
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: General Purāṇic pattern: in crisis, the Supreme Goddess manifests auxiliary śaktis to restore cosmic order; not tied here to a specific jyotirliṅga episode.
Significance: Supports Śākta-Śaiva understanding that approaching Śiva with Devī as Jagadambā grants protective power and restoration of dharma.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Durgā
Role: destructive
Offering: pushpa
The verse highlights Śakti as the manifest, dynamic power of the Supreme—when dharma is threatened or devotion is wounded, the Goddess, as Sarvalokamaheśvarī, can instantly externalize innumerable energies to restore cosmic order, showing divine compassion expressed through protective force.
In Shaiva understanding, the Liṅga signifies Shiva as the transcendent ground, while Śakti is His immanent power that acts within creation. This verse emphasizes Saguna expression: the Goddess manifests powers for a specific divine purpose, complementing Liṅga worship where devotees honor Shiva together with His inseparable Śakti.
A practical takeaway is to worship Shiva with Śakti-bhāva: japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with steady devotion, and (where traditional) applying Tripuṇḍra-bhasma as a reminder that divine power can transform sorrow into protection and right action.
