Brāhmaṇī-Svargati-Varṇana: Account of a Brāhmaṇa Woman’s Ascent to Heaven
सूत उवाच । एवं वचस्तदा श्रुत्वा द्विजेनोक्तं यथातथम् । पुनश्चायं द्विजस्तत्र स्त्रियोक्तः स्थीयतां त्वया
sūta uvāca | evaṃ vacastadā śrutvā dvijenoktaṃ yathātatham | punaścāyaṃ dvijastatra striyoktaḥ sthīyatāṃ tvayā
സൂതൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ആ വാക്കുകൾ കേട്ട് ആ ദ്വിജൻ സംഭവിച്ചതുപോലെ തന്നെ പറഞ്ഞു. പിന്നെ അതേ സ്ഥലത്ത് ആ ബ്രാഹ്മണനോട് സ്ത്രീ വീണ്ടും പറഞ്ഞു—“നീ ഇവിടെ തന്നെ താമസിക്കൂ।”

Significance: The command to ‘stay’ signals a liminal pause—pilgrimage as inner stillness before decisive rite; in Siddhānta, restraint (saṃyama) prepares the paśu for anugraha.
The verse highlights śravaṇa (reverent listening) and truthful speech (yathā-tatham) as foundations of dharma—qualities that, in Shaiva Siddhanta, purify the soul (paśu) and prepare it for Shiva’s grace (pati-anugraha).
In Kotirudra narratives, the instruction to “stay here” often signals remaining in a sacred tirtha/linga-kṣetra with steadiness (niṣṭhā). Such steadfast presence supports saguna worship—darśana, pūjā, and service—through which devotion ripens toward liberation by Shiva’s grace.
A practical takeaway is niyama of staying/abiding in a holy place with discipline—continuing daily Linga-pūjā, japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and simple observances like bhasma-dhāraṇa and Rudrākṣa as appropriate to one’s vrata.
