Ghuśmā–Sudehā: Jealousy, Household Honor, and the Ethics of Śaiva Merit (गुश्मा–सुदेहा प्रसङ्गः)
तदोवाच शिवस्तत्र सुप्रसन्नो महेश्वरः । स्थास्येऽत्र तव नाम्नाहं घुश्मेशाख्यस्सुखप्रदः
tadovāca śivastatra suprasanno maheśvaraḥ | sthāsye'tra tava nāmnāhaṃ ghuśmeśākhyassukhapradaḥ
അപ്പോൾ പരമപ്രസന്നനായ മഹേശ്വരൻ ശിവൻ അവിടെ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു— “ഇവിടെയേ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ നാമം ധരിച്ചു ‘ഘുഷ്മേശ’ എന്ന പേരിൽ വസിച്ച്, സുഖവും ശിവകല്യാണവും പ്രസാദിക്കും।”

Sthala Purana: Śiva explicitly vows to abide at that very place under the devotee’s name (‘Ghuśmeśa’), as ‘sukha-prada’. This is the formal narrative charter for the Jyotirliṅga’s enduring presence and salvific accessibility.
Significance: Darśana of the abiding Lord grants sukha (well-being) and śreyas (spiritual good); the site is approached as a stable refuge where Śiva’s grace remains continuously available.

It declares Śiva’s anugraha (grace): pleased by steadfast devotion, He chooses to “abide” in a particular tīrtha as a manifest (saguṇa) presence, making that place a channel for devotees to receive sukha and upliftment toward liberation.
Śiva’s statement “I shall abide here” supports Jyotirliṅga worship: the formless Supreme (nirguṇa in essence) compassionately becomes accessible as saguṇa through the Liṅga at a specific site, where devotees can approach Him with ritual and devotion.
Pilgrimage and Liṅga-pūjā are implied—abhisheka with water, bilva offerings, and japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a bhakti attitude, seeking Śiva’s sukha-prada blessing and inner purification.
