Puruṣa–Prakṛti Analysis in Advaita Śaiva Doctrine
sarvaṃ brahmetyupāsīta sarvaṃ vai rudra ityapi | śrutirāha mune tasmātprapañcātmā sadāśivaḥ
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Mantra: sarvaṃ brahmetyupāsīta / sarvaṃ vai rudra ityapi
Type: stotra
It affirms a Śaiva reading of Śruti: the Absolute (Brahman) is to be realized as Rudra, and Sadāśiva is the indwelling reality of the entire cosmos—supporting liberation through God-centered knowledge (jñāna) and devotion (bhakti).
By declaring “all is Rudra,” the verse legitimizes Saguna worship (such as Liṅga-upāsanā) as a direct approach to the same supreme reality—seeing the Liṅga as the accessible sign of the all-pervading Sadāśiva.
A practical takeaway is Rudra-bhāvanā: meditate that all experiences and beings are pervaded by Rudra, supported by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while maintaining Śiva-smarana during daily actions.
