Paramātma-Svarūpa-Nirṇaya: Strī–Puṃ–Napuṃsaka-Vicāra
Inquiry into the Supreme Self and Gendered Forms
ityādiśivasūtrāṇāṃ vārtikaṃ kathitaṃ mayā | jñānaṃ baṃdha itīdaṃ tu dvitīyaṃ sūtramīśituḥ
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Mantra: ज्ञानं बन्धः (jñānaṃ bandhaḥ)
It highlights a key Shaiva insight: ordinary cognition, when bound to ego and duality, becomes a fetter; liberation arises when knowledge is purified into Shiva-consciousness rather than mere conceptual knowing.
It supports Saguna worship as a practical means to transform limited, binding knowledge into direct devotion and inner recognition of Shiva, where the mind’s concepts subside into living awareness of the Lord symbolized by the Linga.
Meditative inquiry with japa—especially the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya)—is implied: use mantra and Shiva-dhyana to move from mere mental knowledge to experiential realization that cuts the pasha (bond).
