शिवो हरो मृडभवौ विदितं चक्रमद्भुतम् । संहाराख्यं महादिव्यं परमं हि मुनीश्वर
śivo haro mṛḍabhavau viditaṃ cakramadbhutam | saṃhārākhyaṃ mahādivyaṃ paramaṃ hi munīśvara
Suta Goswami (narrating the Shiva Purana to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Role: destructive
Offering: pushpa
Cosmic Event: Saṃhāra as a cosmic mechanism symbolized by the Lord’s cakra—an image of orderly dissolution rather than chaos.
The verse highlights Śiva as Hara—the supreme power of saṃhāra (dissolution). In Shaiva Siddhanta, dissolution is not mere destruction but the compassionate removal of impurity and bondage, preparing the soul (paśu) for grace and liberation under the Lord (Pati).
By naming Śiva through epithets like Hara, Mṛḍa, and Bhava, the verse supports Saguna contemplation—worshipping the Lord with attributes and powers. Linga worship similarly focuses the mind on Śiva as the supreme reality whose power includes creation, preservation, and dissolution.
Meditate on Śiva as Hara while repeating the Panchākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), offering inner surrender so that the Lord’s ‘saṃhāra’ power dissolves ego and karmic bonds; simple Linga-pūjā with mantra-japa aligns with this teaching.
