बहुशश्चोदयामासभर्तारंमामनुव्रताम् ।भार्याभवरमस्वेतिप्रत्याख्यातोध्रुवंमया ।।।।सोऽयंमामनुपस्थानेव्यक्तंनैराश्यमागतः ।क्रोधमोहसमाविष्टोनिहन्तुंमांसमुद्यतः ।।।।

bahuśaś codayāmāsa bhartāraṃ mām anuvratām |

bhāryā bhava ramasveti pratyākhyāto dhruvaṃ mayā |

so 'yaṃ mām anupasthāne vyaktaṃ nairāśyam āgataḥ |

krodhamohasamāviṣṭo nihantuṃ māṃ samudyataḥ ||

“ഞാൻ ഭർത്താവിനോടു നിഷ്ഠയുള്ള പതിവ്രതയായിട്ടും, അവൻ പലവട്ടം എന്നെ പ്രലോഭിപ്പിച്ചു—‘എന്റെ ഭാര്യയാകൂ; എന്നോടു രമിക്കൂ’ എന്ന്. ഞാൻ ഉറച്ചുതന്നെ നിരസിച്ചു. ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ വഴങ്ങാത്തതിനാൽ അവൻ വ്യക്തമായി നിരാശയിൽ വീണിരിക്കുന്നു; ക്രോധവും മോഹവും പിടിച്ചിട്ട് എന്നെ കൊല്ലാൻ ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു.”
