The Slaying of Indrajit
दुद्रुवुर्भहुधाभीताराक्षसाश्शतशोदिशः ।त्यक्त्वाप्रहरणान्सर्वेपट्टसासिपरश्वधान् ।।।।
dudruvur bahudhā bhītā rākṣasāḥ śataśo diśaḥ |
tyaktvā praharaṇān sarve paṭṭasāsiparaśvadhān ||
ഭീതിയിലായ രാക്ഷസർ പല കൂട്ടങ്ങളായി, നൂറുകണക്കിന്, എല്ലാദിക്കുകളിലേക്കും ഓടി; മൂർച്ചയുള്ള കുന്തങ്ങൾ, വാളുകൾ, പരശുക്കൾ തുടങ്ങിയ ആയുധങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
All Rakshasas feared and panic stricken fled in hundreds, in groups in all directions leaving their sharp-edged spears, swords, and axes.
Fear-driven violence lacks resilience; dharma requires courage with clarity (sattva). When sattva is absent, even armed power becomes helpless.
The Rākṣasa troops disperse in panic, dropping their arms as they run.
Implicitly, steadiness (dhairya) as the opposite of panic—an essential virtue for dharmic action.
