The Slaying of Kumbhakarna
सम्प्रस्रवंस्तदामेदश्शोणिते च महाबलः ।वध्यमानोनगेन्द्राग्रैर्भक्ष्यामासवानरान् ।।।।
samprasravaṁs tadā medaḥśoṇite ca mahābalaḥ |
vadhyamāno nagendrāgrair bhakṣyāmāsa vānarān ||
അപ്പോൾ മഹാബലനായ കുംഭകർണ്ണൻ പർവ്വതശിഖരങ്ങളുടെ പ്രഹാരങ്ങൾ ഏറ്റിട്ടും, മേദസ്സും രക്തവും ഒഴുകിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കെ, വാനരന്മാരെ ഭക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നു.
Then the mighty Kumbhakarna while being struck by peaks of mountains, he was feasting on Vanaras fat and blood oozing out from his mouth.
It depicts how entrenched adharma persists even under punishment; Dharma teaching emphasizes timely repentance and restraint before one becomes hardened in wrongdoing.
Despite being attacked with massive blows (mountain-peaks), Kumbhakarṇa continues his slaughter and devouring in the thick of battle.
The Vānara side’s perseverance in resisting overwhelming force is highlighted indirectly—standing firm even when the enemy seems unstoppable.
