The Slaying of Kumbhakarna
स लब्दसंज्ञोबलवान्मुष्टिमावर्त्यराक्षसः ।अपहास्तेनचिक्षेपविसंज्ञः स पपात ह ।।।।
sa labdhasaṃjño balavān muṣṭim āvartya rākṣasaḥ | apahāstena cikṣepa visaṃjñaḥ sa papāta ha ||
ബോധം വീണ്ടെടുത്ത ബലവാൻ രാക്ഷസൻ മുഷ്ടി മുറുക്കി പിന്നോട്ടുവലിച്ച്, കൈയുടെ പുറംഭാഗംകൊണ്ട് പ്രഹരിച്ചു; അങ്കദൻ ബോധം നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു നിലത്തുവീണു.
The mighty Rakshasa regained his consciousness and, doubling his fist hit Angada with the back of his hand and Angada fell, lost senses.
It underscores the battlefield reality that dharma requires steadiness amid reversals; righteous forces may suffer setbacks but must persist without abandoning their cause.
After being stunned, Kumbhakarṇa recovers and retaliates, striking Aṅgada so hard that he faints and collapses.
Kumbhakarṇa’s physical might is emphasized (not moral excellence), serving as a narrative test of the Vānara army’s resilience.
