"Now I am gratified with your valour, though young. Taking leave of you, I wish to go to Raghava."
A warrior’s code (yuddha-dharma) is implied: Kumbhakarṇa acknowledges Lakṣmaṇa’s prowess yet insists on proceeding to the principal opponent (Rāma), framing combat as directed by rank and purpose rather than random violence.
On the battlefield, Kumbhakarṇa addresses Lakṣmaṇa, praises his valour despite his youth, and declares his intention to move on toward Rāma.
Lakṣmaṇa’s vīrya (courage/valour) is recognized; the verse also highlights Kumbhakarṇa’s martial confidence and single-minded aim.
